As Arrows in the Hand of a Warrior....

Behold Children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth.
 Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them;
 They shall not be ashamed and shall speak with their enemies at the gates.
Psalms 127:3-5

I am late in posting this (again), but a couple of weeks ago a group of us got together for an afternoon to learn the skill of archery. Everyone had a good time and definitely improved on their shooting skills by time we ended.
The passage above is what my dad talked on for our devotion, but even before that when archery was mentioned the Lord brought this verse to mind.
Children are a blessing and are like arrows in the hand of a warrior. One translation says, 'like arrows in the hand of a might man.'
We live in a society where children are despised and are seen as a nuisance and bother (or as President Obama stated, 'a punishment') instead of seeing them as what they are, a heritage, a blessing and a reward!
We must remember what our Lord Jesus thinks about children and how highly He values them-

"It would be better for him if a millstone were hung aroung his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Luke 17:2

Whoever recieves one of these little children in My name recieves Me; and whoever recieves Me, receives not Me but the One who sent Me. Mark 9:37

But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such
is the kingdom of heaven. Mark 19:14

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,  and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:2-6

Parents are given the amazing task of training up children in the way of the Lord and then shooting them out as straight arrows to serve and glorify our Lord Jesus' name. Do not think that being mother, or being a father is  inferior to other tasks that the Lord gives to people. It is a high and beautiful calling.

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Here are a few pictures from our event, enjoy!
